Welcome to the website for Soroptimist International of Citrus Heights.  My name is Lori Walker and I am the current President for the year 2009-2010.  I hope you enjoy looking through our website.  I am very proud of our club and hope after you learn about us you will want to come and have lunch with us to see what being a Soroptimist is all about.

We meet twice a month (the first and third Wednesday) at a local restaurant to conduct club business and plan our activities and projects.  We have guest speakers from the community and take pride in keeping our members informed and educated.

As President of SICH for 2009-2010, my mission is to “inspire women and girls to follow the yellow brick road to their dreams.”  The thought came to me because of my love of the film “The Wizard of Oz.”  I want our club to help people remember to follow their dreams no matter where they take them.  We can succeed together.

We have two major fundraisers each year.  Our annual box lunch fundraiser is fun and we work as a great team to sell approximately 1300 lunches each year.  Our second fundraiser is in cooperation with the Citrus Heights Kiwanis during their annual Crab Feed.  This is a great event to meet community members and have some fun.

Our club sponsors many community events and programs such as the Reality Works Program at several local high schools.  This program provides infant simulators to the schools to teach parenting and child responsibility.  We support our local food lockers and local elementary schools when they are struggling to provide services to the community. 

We offer several scholarships each year which include the Women’s Opportunity Award, the Pansy Carrick Scholarship and the Violet Richardson Award.  The Women’s Opportunity Award is a Soroptimist International award where the winner has an opportunity to win regional level awards.  We are exceptionally proud of our past award winners.  They are truly inspirational women.

We are very proud to support women in their endeavors.  The word Soroptimist means “Best for Women” which is very important to our club members.
